Ngahuia completed a BA in Maori from Otago University in 2004, and went on to receive her PGDipArts the following year. Since leaving university she has worked for Taupo Hot Springs Ltd as the Spa Co-ordinator, and then joined Taupo Moana Funds Ltd as the office administrator, in August 2008.
