Taupo Moana Group (TMG) is a Maori investment company providing investment services to Maori organisations, institutions, hapu, iwi, and whanau throughout Aotearoa. TMG was incorporated in January 1996 with the blessing of the late Paramount Chief Ta Hepi Te Heuheu; the company is 100% Maori-owned by the Lake Taupo Forest Trust of Ngati Tuwharetoa.
TMG was ‘born from the grass roots’ - originally established in Turangi to service the investment needs of the Lake Taupo Forest Trust. In establishing market relationships with major banks and investment institutions, TMG realised opportunities exisited for other Maori organisations. In November 1999, after considerable interest from other Maori organisations, TMG implemented a new business plan and moved to Wellington to better service Maori organisations, iwi and hapu groups throughout Aotearoa.
TMG strives for Maori economic development and aims to helps Maori organisations achieve their long-term economic objectives through prudent investment planning, risk management, diversification and performance monitoring.
